How to create your website cheaply and beautifully when you have no design nor development skills

Weeeee the website has had a lick of paint and it’s LIVE! Have a look around.

In case you haven’t heard the story I’ve had a helluva nightmare with website tech over the years OMG.

My first website I paid about $1000 and there were so many things wrong with it, the worst of which I couldn’t touch a SINGLE thing without it imploding on itself. It made it difficult to evolve in business because the website just had to stay stuck in time as I was held hostage by developers.

One day, after A LOT of hair pulling, I said FK IT: I’m gonna do it myself. And I set out to learn. Thankfully there are a lot of great software offers out there now that make it easier than ever.

Here’s the down low on what it took to create this website:

DOMAIN:

I purchased the domain akashiccode.com from Namecheap and it costs me $26.12 for 2 years. It includes an SSL certificate, which means you get the padlock and https. The important part being the “s” because that means the website is secure for taking online payments. I don't use the website for this yet (I use Moonclerk), but at least it's futureproofed.

HOSTING:

I host the domain at Bluehost.com. 36 months (3 years) costs $150. This is where your domain is housed. If you think about the domain as you address, and the host as the bricks and mortar of the house AT the address.

DESIGN:

I used Thrive Themes to design and create the look of the website. I LOVE THRIVE THEMES. It has loads of templates and pre-packaged customizable design elements. I tend no long to use pre-package templates because I’ve got the hang of riffing with it. Often, however, I'm not sure HOW I want a page to look, so I just look through other’s websites for inspo on where to place things.

Thrive Themes costs $288 per year, but I think it’s totally worth it. Many use Click Funnels and that’s $97 per MONTH ($1164 per year) so in comparison it’s a total bargain.

Personalised email:

I use ZOHO, as I was looking for a cheaper alternative to Gmail and it is $12 per year. Absolute BARGAIN. You don’t HAVE to use a personalised email, I could have used, a gmail.com extension, but for $12 per year it’s worth it for me.

So per year, the total cost for having a website works per year works out at

DOMAIN (Namecheap): $13.06

HOSTING (Bluehost): $50

DESIGN (Thrive Themes): $288

EMAIL (Zoho): $12

TOTAL:- $363.06

My personal view is to learn the basics of website creation as you're building your online business.

There are so many benefits to doing this:-

  • Expand your creativity
  • Absolute flexibility of what your website looks like, super simple to start but as your skills get better you can get fancy and as software improves it’ll only get easier and easier
  • Unravel that story you have that tech is hard and you can't do it, or too masculine for you.
  • Empowers you to quickly launch products and services without waiting on developers, or figuring how your words will fit into the design…
  • Cheaper! Great when you’re just getting started.

The down side is it can be quite time consuming while you are learning the ropes, which can distract you from wealth-creation activities, but over the long run I feel like it has been a great investment as a small business owner.

ANNNYYYwayyy, have a look around 🙂

I'm so excited that to have opened up a 1:1 coaching and consultation co-creation container called "5D VIP" where together we'll expand your online business.

I’m REALLY excited as it includes a half day VIP experience where we deep dive into the business, an intimate Akashic Records Soul Reading to discover what will best support the next expansion of your business, and a shamanic energy clearing, which, AMAZINGLY, seems to be more effective over Zoom than in real life.

Have a look to see if it's for you, it's under "5D VIP" on the navigation menu 🙂
