1. Going out for food and coffee on the whole is actually fairly unmemorable, when I thought it would be highly memorable.
This seems to be a way to feel better, or a way to procrastinate. (memorable: Chop Haus (just been paid), first time went to Zaap, exploring a new area, meal in Middleham - end of era, marker meal, Star Inn - weekend somewhere different, walked around, achieved something physically or creatively. Celebration, Exploration somewhere).
Take away/adjustment
If I feel the sudden impulse on a random Tuesday to go out for a coffee, I’m probably putting off doing the REAL work.
If I’m going out for a meal because I can’t think of anything else to do, or I’m feeling sad then I’m probably just not facing something, or I’m bored.
Only go out when feeling really good, in celebration of an achievement, to mark the something important, or when exploring somewhere new and different.
2. A lot of my pain is emotional. Feeling disappointed in myself for not sticking to things that help me be set up well for each day.
Take away/adjustment
Discipline works well for me, as long as it’s done lovingly and kindly. Devotion feels abstract, undefined, and more emotional than I am ready to work with… yet. Experiment in non-integral facets of life with devotion.
3. I find ceremonial zooms highly healing, every other Zoom is not very memorable. Ceremony in general helps me feel really great.
Take away/adjustment
Do I want to share more ceremonial Zooms? Do I want to join more ceremonial Zooms?
Second guess signing up for a course, or webinar that doesn’t have a ceremonial aspect.
4. I get smaller and smaller energetically and expressively if money reduces. I do less of the things I love and that I know support me, both free e.g. going for a walk and paid e.g. not going on holiday.
Take away/adjustment
Stick to routine and learn from this list to take the right actions and be disciplined with the right things, in the right way.
5. Reading a great book actually really lifts me up, esp around travel.
Take away / adjustment
Read some pages of a book every day, always have a novel on the go.
6. I enjoyed learning about creativity and non-business last year more than about business and marketing (e.g. You Are A Storyteller, Andy J Pizza, Steve Pavlina). When I did listen to business, I enjoyed going deep with one person, eg. Alex Hormozi.
Takeaway / adjustment
Keep listening to creativity podcasts and audiobooks and stick with one person I'm learning from for an extended period of time.
7. In person feels much better than Zoom, more so for me being in a paid container, currently no desire to host one.
Take away / adjustment
Commit to Northen Drum for three more years, all in person. Stay focussed on this one main container rather than flitting and sampling loads of online containers.
8. My environment influences me a lot (based on the experiences of being in a damp house and trying to persuade myself that I can stay there and be grateful).
Take away / adjustment
Forever note: choose dry, warm spaces! Ensure I’m happy with my environment as a priority.
9. Connecting with Earth really makes me feel good when it’s intentional (going to the cave in Carlton, swimming in Oxenhope and being in a tent during summer camp or at Windermere).
Take away / adjustment
Find beauty spots, make a list of places that help me feel that way. Go to them regularly,
10. I feel like I have a far better, more positive day when I wake up early, even if I don’t get a huge amount done just simply feeling proud that I woke up early always helps me feel good. If I am up at 6:30 I will feel like I’m “With it” here for the day, I don't stress and curse myself come 11:30 when I’ve only JUST finished my morning routine, or I’m more inclined to miss the morning routine and either not feel strong enough to do work, or go into panic or burnout. I fret more and go more into anxiety when I wake up late.
Take away/ adjustment
Commit to getting ready for bed every day at 9pm, waking up at 6:30, on the weekends too to regulate my body.
11. I don’t exercise if I’m injured. I don’t seem to struggle that much to exercise if I’m feeling strong and have a place to do it.
Takeaway / adjustment
When I find I’m injured I need to look up rehab/physio and start doing it right away so I can get back on it.
12. Emotions and food are highly related for me. I tend to eat better when I don’t feel emotionally shit or helpless.
Takeaway / adjustment
When I’m in a fairly controlled and low-quantity space with food I think about it less and don’t reach for it so fast when things get hard.
13. I would like to do more little things for my friends this year as I know it feels good when I’VE been on the other side of it, and I generally have neglected my friendships for a while.
Takeaway / adjustment
Send flowers, notes in the post, call them up to chat even just for 20 mins.
14. When my year isn’t punctuated by “a thing” or “a few things” everything just blends and becomes a bit boring.
Takeaway / adjustment
This tends to look like trips somewhere every couple of months. Exploring new places help me to anchor in my year.
15. On the whole video games don’t feature as a highlight (except Last of Us first play through). The amount of time I spend on video games does not yield equal returns in well-being.
Takeaway / adjustment
Cut down on the amount of time spent playing video games (unless they are mindless games where I get to listen to podcasts and audiobooks).
16. I remember moments of deep burnout (like after a launch), but I don’t remember much about any other time, like any particular posts.
Takeaway / adjustment
If I was creating steady, expressive posts getting more and more expressive I’m not convinced it would traumatise me as much as I think it would. Sticking to a steady flow of creation yield greater rewards than the trauma I think it will create.
17. Emotions, money (financial well being), physical well being (eating, movement) are pre requisites to feeling open in almost any other category (love, family, friends, creating for business, visibility, desire to learn anything new).
Takeaway / adjustment
Prioritise Emotional Well Being (meditating, mindfulness, less “junk in” like video games, news etc), Creating Financial Wealth (through sticking with year goal), and Physical Well being (exercise, eating well).
18. My financial anxiety seems to come less from the raw amount in my bank and comes more from repeatable, reliable, streamlined, sustainable, income generating processes and approaches.
Takeaway / adjustment
Focus on the year goal and consistency with myself and income flow rather than absolute numbers.
19. I appreciate the amenities of the city, but I don’t need the big amenities. I also don’t like the isolation of the country, I like the balance that a small but interesting, bustling town brings. Country on doorstep but also city-like amenities also on the doorstep.
Takeaway / adjustment
Continue on what I do and don’t link in a place, and visit the place I’d like to manifest a house to gather more data.
20. Morgan Long, Darling Desi, very comforting YouTube channels. The eco system of your own Youtube channel
Takeaway / adjustment
Continue to tune in and find comfort in these creators, as well as inspiration.
21. Looking at the people I enjoyed working with, I would have fewer people 1:1 Zoom, who were more like ideal clients etc, meet less often every 2-3 weeks (go back and look at how often you met with these people to inform going forward).
Takeaway / adjustment
2 times per month for 90 minutes feels really nice, but a longer container, 6 months minimum or 1 year, would be nice. If I had a maximum of 5-6 clients at any one go that feels spacious. 12 calls max pm.
22. I got more out of this reflection process than I have out of continuously trying to pull forward a vision for the future!
Takeaway / adjustment
Spend more time reflecting over visioning this year. Build in reflective moments each week, month, and quarter.
